Umut’s Selection of the Week 012 • VA – Consistency Of Error: REMIXED LP [C4CDIGUKLP003]
Consistency Of Error was without a doubt one of THE albums of the past year. It even got a nomination at the Drum&Bass Arena Awards and more than a year later the REMIXED LP is released on Cause4Concern. I can confidently say that it is in no way inferior to the original.
First we have Merikan’s Alternative Remix of Skorpio. The Italian turned the tune into a rolling monster and didn’t leave out the funky guitar. Wait for the second drop.
C4C-Heads Optiv & CZA took care of Tune X and brought a portion of Oldschool into the story. Epic intro meets steppy lead here, well done! The powerful and deep bassline is hard to overlook.
Dirt was one of my favorites on the original LP and gets the full pack of Disphonia. The Greek duo gave the bouncy bit a good portion of punk. This drumwork is killing it alongside the epic synth hits.
Ceres, number four on the menu, gets the AKOV special treatment. The Russian from England is known for his stomping and danceable beats and doesn’t disappoint at all with this remix.
The second Italian on the record, Maztek, has released his album Warpath this year. Known for his fierce sound sceneries, technical arrangments and power sets, he also fulfilled all expectations here. His version of Delta Invariant stamps, breathes and sends you into a war with the Transformers.
Synth Ethics recently released an EP with Was A Be on Critical and take on Ion Jam. I really like this thing very much. Very clean drumwork, what they made out of the synths is a dream. Keep the funk alive! Very refreshing.
Next we have the Subtension remix of Smoking Mirror. It came a bit unexpected because I had least expected a Halftime version on a Neurofunk record. The track just sounds a bit like a dark, slimmed down version but flexes off tightly. Proceed please!
The remix of Bloom comes from Gydra and sounds like them. Two weeks ago, or more, I showed the track to a buddy and covered the title. Ten seconds from drop and the first word was Gydra. An unstoppable rolling monster with an enormous entertainment factor.
Mean Teeth are on a triumphal march through the bank. What they touch becomes gold and so do the Stems of Them! Beautiful growls as fills, clear drums and beautiful synth hits are needed to convince me. The track definitely has all that and one extra tick more.
Let’s come to the last delicacy, Akroms Remix of Pierce. I can say for sure that this track is my absolute favorite of the whole record. Here you get Neurofunk like it has to be, brute, fast and still Akrom finds a way to raise the bar! Killer tune!
The REMIXED LP is in no way inferior to its predecessor and is packed with plenty of dancefloor material! The selection of remix artists was done right and it turned out to be a wonderful tour across the depths and versatility of Neurofunk.
